Timing is the urgent one. A defamation claim in England and Wales must generally be brought within one year of first publication under s. 4A of the Limitation Act 1980, and the single publication rule means reposting does not restart the clock.
The serious harm threshold under s. 1 of the Defamation Act 2013 is the other. It requires that publication caused, or was likely to cause, serious harm to reputation. In a city where professional communities are tightly networked, demonstrating that a post reached the people whose opinion determines your work is often more straightforward than in a larger and more anonymous market.
Article 17 of the UK GDPR provides a separate right to request erasure of personal data from the platform, without a one-year limitation and without requiring the content to be false.
